BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's lacrosse program saw 10 of its student-athletes earn Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Conference honors on Thursday evening, as announced by the league office.
Colin Bannon (Westport, Conn.), Will Jennings (Danvers, Mass.), Peter Field Jr. (Hampstead, N.H.), and Ben Katzen (Blauvelt, N.Y.) highlighted the group by earning All-CCC First Team accolades, while Mitchell Tapley (Falmouth, Maine), Michael Ryan (Falmouth, Maine), Cameron Bell (Falmouth, Maine), and Tommy Hughes (Coram, N.Y.) all claimed second team honors.
Matthew Holzinger (Fairfield, Conn.) and Will Farfalla (Glen Rock, N.J.) rounded out the All-Conference honorees for the Gulls with selections to the third team.
ALL-CCC FIRST TEAM
COLIN BANNON | JUNIOR | ATTACK | WESTPORT, CONN.
Bannon, who is now a three-time All-CCC first team selection, currently ranks first in points (84), eighth in goals (36), and second in assists (48) in the CCC. Nationally, Bannon ranks fifth in assists per game (3.00), and tenth in points per game (5.25).
WILL JENNINGS | JUNIOR | ATTACK | DANVERS, MASS.
Jennings picked up his second career All-CCC first team honor today after ranking first in the conference in goals (67), No. 16 in assists (14), and second in points (81). Bannon also ranks first in the CCC in shots (177) and shots on goal (121), and second in man-up goals (9). Nationally, Jennings is second in goals per game (4.47), fifth in points per game (5.40), and No. 16 individual man-up goals (9).
PETER FIELD JR. | SENIOR | MIDFIELDER | HAMPSTEAD, N.H.
Field Jr. claimed his first career All-CCC honor by posting 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points in 16 games played. Field Jr. has also registered at least one point in every game this season and three or more in five contests.
BEN KATZEN | SENIOR | DEFENSE | BLAUVELT, N.Y.
Katzen collected his second straight All-CCC accolade (one first team, one second team) after registering ten caused turnovers and 16 ground balls. Katzen has also served as a major contributor to Endicott's transition game this season, which currently ranks second in the CCC (228-290).
SECOND TEAM ALL-CCC
MITCHELL TAPLEY | SENIOR | MIDFIELDER | FALMOUTH, MAINE
Tapley potted 30 goals (No. 13 in CCC) and dished out six assists for 36 points to earn his first career All-CCC honor this season. Tapley has notched two 4-goal games in 2016 and also buried three or more goals in five games this year.
MICHAEL RYAN | SOPHOMORE | DEFENSE | FALMOUTH, MAINE
A first-time All-CCC selection as a sophomore, Ryan ranks inside the top-30 in the conference in ground balls (excluding face-off specialists, goalies) with 36 total on the season. Ryan also is ninth in caused turnovers with 20 in 15 games played. Much like Katzen, Ryan has been a major contributor to Endicott's transition game this season as well.
CAMERON BELL | SENIOR | GOALIE | FALMOUTH, MAINE
Bell, who is now a four-time All-CCC award winner, ranks second in the CCC in saves (182), third in wins (8), eighth in goals against average (10.79), and ninth in save percentage (52.1). Nationally, Bell ranks No. 74 in saves per game (11.38), and has recorded 10 or more saves in 10 games this season.
TOMMY HUGHES | JUNIOR | FACE-OFF MIDFIELDER | CORAM, N.Y.
Hughes currently ranks first in face-off wins (261) and ground balls (159) headed into the CCC Tournament next week. Nationally, Hughes ranks No. 3 in ground balls per game and No. 15 in face-off winning percentage (.673). Hughes is now a three-time All-CCC selection (two second team, one first team).
ALL-CCC THIRD TEAM
MATTHEW HOLZINGER | GRADUATE STUDENT | DEFENSE | FAIRFIELD, CONN.
A first-time All-CCC honoree, Holzinger compiled 15 caused turnovers and 21 ground balls in 13 games played this season. Over his last four games, Holzinger has averaged nearly three caused turnovers a game. The Gulls are 4-0 during that span.
WILL FARFALLA | SENIOR | LONG-STICK MIDFIELDER | GLEN ROCK, N.J.
Farfalla, who is a two-time All-CCC award winner, has tallied 23 ground balls and six caused turnovers in 16 games played this season. Farfalla also has contributed three goals and four assists for seven points on the offensive end for the Gulls.
Endicott (8-8, 7-1 CCC) will play the winner of No. 3 Roger Williams and No. 6 Wentworth next Wednesday at a time to be determined later.
