Ben Katzen Earns NEILA Academic All-New England Honors

NEILA ACADEMIC ALL-NEW ENGLAND TEAM

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott senior Ben Katzen (Blauvelt, N.Y.) has earned New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic All-New England honors, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Overall among all three NCAA Divisions, 89 senior men's lacrosse student-athletes received NEILA Academic All-New England accolades. The teams are comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their men's lacrosse careers. All student-athletes on the NEILA Academic All-New England teams were nominated by their respective head coaches.

Sixty-five student-athletes from 29 different NCAA Division III institutions met the criteria, which required that nominees must have reached senior standing at their school, bolster a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and also be a significant enough player on the field that he was nominated for at least All-Conference selection.

Katzen, who is a digital journalism major, by and far met the NEILA criteria as the senior defender was named a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Conference first team selection this season. In 2016, Katzen appeared in 14 games, registered three points (2g, 1a), scooped up 19 ground balls, and caused 14 turnovers. Katzen's play also helped Endicott finish third in goals against average at 8.36 in conference games.

Endicott went 9-9 on the season and advanced to the CCC Tournament title game for the fourth straight year.
