Four Gulls named NEILA All-New England

May 13, 2008

BEVERLY, Mass. - The New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released its annual All-New England teams on Tuesday, and Endicott College had four players tabbed all-region. Attackman Nick Cosco (Londonderry, N.H.) and midfielder Eddie O'Reilly (Beverly, Mass.) were named to the First Team, while John Ortolani (Billerica, Mass.) and Adrien Peacock (Billerica, Mass.) were awarded Second Team honors.

Cosco, The Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, earned First Team recognition after scoring a team-high 58 goals and 29 assists for 87 points. The junior's point total places him in a tie for third in the nation in scoring, and fifth in the country in total goals.

Eddie O'Reilly earns All-New England honors for the second consecutive year after posting 49 goals and 15 assists this past season. O'Reilly led the charge for the first midfield unit, averaging just over three points per game (3.04) in 2008.

Fresh off being named the ECAC Tournament's Most Valuable Player, John Ortolani earns a spot on the NEILA Second Team. The Endicott face-off specialist had a dominating season, going 261-of-380 from the face-off X (68.7%) while scooping up a team-high 163 groundballs. Ortolani's winning percentage off the draw was second-best in the nation.

Adrien Peacock anchors the list of Second Team All-New England honorees, just as he did for the Gulls' defense this past season. Peacock spearheaded a defensive group that allowed just 5.47 goals against per game, an average that places Endicott as the second stingiest defense in all of Division III. Peacock started all 21 games for the Blue and Green, causing 21 turnovers and grabbing 45 groundballs.

Endicott finished its season as the ECAC New England Men's Lacrosse Champions, coasting through the tournament this past weekend. The Gulls also wrapped-up 2008 as the 16th-ranked team in the country, while also notching a program-high 18 wins.
