Three Gulls Earn All-CCC Accolades; Grimbilas & F. Mahoney Earn Major Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. - Three members of the Endicott golf program have claimed Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason honors, as announced by the organization earlier today. Nicholas Grimbilas (Strafford, N.H.) and Frank Mahoney (Braintree, Mass.) led the trio as Grimbilas was named CCC Golfer of the Year and Mahoney was named CCC Rookie of the Year. Grimbilas becomes the third student-athlete in program history to earn the distinction, joining Athan Goulas (2017), and Austin Teal (2015, 2016). Meanwhile, Mahoney earns the distinction of becoming the first Rookie of the Year in program history.

Additionally, Grimbilas and Mahoney were named to the CCC First Team, while Kyle Mahoney (Braintree, Mass.) earned All-CCC Second Team honors.


NICHOLAS GRIMBILAS | SO.

A sophomore, Grimbilas earned CCC Golfer of the Year and First Team honors after earning medalist honors at the two-day CCC Championship. His day two round of 73 was pivotal in leading Endicott to a second-place finish. Grimbilas finished the Championship with a score of 149 (76-73), two strokes ahead of the individual runner-up. Earlier in the spring season, Grimbilas also earned medalist honors at the Endicott Invitational, and finished 10th at the Roger Williams Invitational. For the season, Grimbilas had a stroke average 76.0, including a low-round of 70 at the RWU Invitational.


FRANK MAHONEY | FR.

Frank Mahoney became the first student-athlete in program history to earn CCC Rookie of the Year honors. Mahoney earned CCC Rookie of the Year and First Team honors after finishing tied for sixth at the CCC Championship and tied for first at the Roger Williams Invitational. Competing as an individual at the Endicott Invitational, Mahoney shot a 74, good for second in the tournament. Overall, Mahoney produced an average round of 77.5, which included his 157 (80-77) at the CCC Championship, and a 79 at the RWU Invitational.


KYLE MAHONEY | FR.

Joining his twin brother with All-CCC honors, Kyle Mahoney was named to the All-CCC Second Team for his performance in 2021. The freshman finished tied for third at the Endicott Invitational, and tied for sixth at the CCC Championship. Overall, he averaged a round of 78.3 on the year, consisting of rounds of 78 at the Endicott Invitational, and a score of 157 (77-80) at the CCC Championship.
