Austin Teal Named 2013-14 PING All-New England Honoree

GREENSBORO, N.C.-  The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the honorees for the 2013-14 Division III PING All-Region Teams on Tuesday, and Endicott's Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) received All-New England honors.  92 golfers from six regions around the country earned the honors as Teal was the lone representative from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).

Teal, a sophomore, became the first GCAA PING All-Region honoree in Endicott history following a stellar 2013-14 campaign in which he led the Gulls to three invitational victories including the squads third consecutive CCC Championship.  With the 2014 CCC title, the team clinched the conference's first ever automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Tournament in Greensboro, N.C.

The Gulls had their most successful season in team history and Teal was a large part of the equation as he had just three rounds that weren't under 80, with those rounds being 80, 80 and 81.  His season low score of 69 came in his second individual medalist performance of the season and helped the team to a second place finish at the Western New England Invitational on the par 72 Veterans Golf Course in Springfield, Mass.  His other medalist performance came on the Cape Arundel Golf Course following a round of 72 at the University of New England Invitational.

For the year, Teal led the team in average score (76.71), top ten finishes (11), top five finishes (5) and wins (2).  He tied with teammate Zach Golojuch (Saco, Maine) for the team lead in rounds played with 21 after having played in every round Endicott competed in.  After day one of the four day NCAA Championship, Teal was the top Endicott golfer at +2 following a round of 74 on the par 72 Grandover Resort course.
