Jumbos Rally to Defeat Gulls

Jumbos Rally to Defeat Gulls

Sept. 28, 2007

LYNNFIELD, MA - The Endicott College men's golf team took a tough loss yesterday to Tufts University at The Colonial Golf Club in Lynnfield, MA.

Endicott, who defeated Tufts in 2006, entered the match feeling confident off of a nice Third Place finish at the Johnson & Wales Invitational last week.

Nick Turczak (Housatonic, MA/Monument Mountain Regional), playing in the number one spot for the Gulls, lost his opening match. Sophomore Daniel Ryan was dominant for Endicott, defeating his opponent early. Garett Seney (Bow, NH) and Drew Sullivan (Katonah, NY) played well in their individual victories, while Jerry Miceli (South Windsor, CT) and Andrew LaRocque (Averill Park, NY) played to close losses.

Endicott's Mike Desrosiers (Granby, MA/Granby) held a slight advantage, up three with four holes to play, late in his match. With Desrosiers up one going into the 18th hole, the Endicott senior just missed his par attempt putt, resulting in the individual loss. The Gulls bad luck continued on the 18th with Sean Smith (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk), who was even entering the hole, but couldn't manage a win.

Endicott looks to rebound on Monday as the Gulls travel to Maine to play in the University of Southern Maine Invitational at the Sable Oaks Golf Club in Portland, ME.
