Men’s Basketball Outlasts Wentworth, 76-68

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's basketball team defeated Wentworth, 76-68, on Monday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) paced all scorers with a game-high 28 points (9-21 FG, 3-10 3PT, 7-8 FT) to go along with four rebounds and three assists.

Billy Arseneault (Lynnfield, Mass.) also contributed 20 points (7-15 FG, 6-7 FT), five assists, and four rebounds, while Cameron Ray (Lowell, Mass.) reached double-figures in scoring with 12 points (2-6 3PT, 4-4 FT) to aid the Gulls in the win.

Trailing 45-44 with 12:54 remaining in the contest, Endicott went on an 11-2 scoring run to bring the score to 55-47 with 10:31 left in regulation.

The run was powered by Dillon Grant (Dennis, Mass.), Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.), and Echevarria as the trio notched two, three, and six points, respectively. 

From there, Endicott manufactured a slim 66-64 advantage with 1:41 remaining before closing out the contest via a 10-4 run thanks to Arseneault (6), Echeverria (2), and Ray (2).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 34-10 all-time against Wentworth
  • The Gulls scored 31 points off 22 miscues from the Leopards
  • Endicott recorded 13 steals, one shy of tying its season-high (14: Western New England, 1/27/22 | Curry, 2/8/22).
  • Tonight's game featured six ties and 11 lead changes.
  • Echevarria missed tying his career-high for points by one tonight.
