Men's Basketball Falls To Western New England, 87-82

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's basketball team fell to Western New England (WNE), 87-82, on Thursday evening in conference action at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) led all scorers with a game-high with 26 points (8-19 FG, 2-7 3PT, 8-8 FT)  to go along with seven assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

Meanwhile, Drew Brown (Pelham, N.H.) recorded a career-high 15 points, shooting a perfect 4-4 from three-point range. Stephen Fama (Lynnfield, Mass.) also touched double figures with 13 points and Spencer Aronson (Holliston, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points.  

At the half, Western New England led 44-35 before Endicott evened the game at 50-50 with 15 minutes remaining. During that time, the Gulls produced an 11-0 scoring run powered by three-point baskets from Echevarria, Aronson, and Adam Lux (Arundel, Maine)

From there, the Golden Bears were able to halt Endicott's comeback bid and came away with the road victory. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Despite the loss, Endicott still holds the all-time series lead over Western New England, 17-9.
  • With the score knotted at 16 apiece at the 13:12 mark, the Golden Bears went on a 13-0 run until an Echevarria layup with 6:45 left in the first half made it 29-18.
  • WNE led the game for 32:19 and its largest lead came with 7:37 remaining in the first half (13 points, 29-16).
  • The game saw five tie scores, but only two lead changes.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (9-5, 6-3 CCC) plays Wentworth on Saturday, January 29 at 3:00 PM. Western New England (8-8, 6-4 CCC) visits Gordon Saturday at 3:00 PM.
