CCC Names Max Motroni Player of the Week

CCC Athletes of the Week – Week Ending February 15th

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore guard Max Motroni (West Warwick, R.I.) helped the Endicott men's basketball team to the eighth and ninth straight victories this past week, issuing conference leader Nichols their first league loss and beating Curry by 20 points. Motroni was recognized for his leadership on the court as he was named the CCC Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Motroni averaged 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game and registered a 55% field goal percentage, 80% (8-of-10) from three-point range, and 89% (8-of-9) from the free throw line on the week. His efforts and efficiency have aided in Endicott's 18-5 overall record and 14-2 mark in the CCC.

In Endicott's 85-80 home win over Nichols, one that sent the Bison back to Dudley with their first conference loss, Motroni shined with a career-high 23 points on 6-of-11 shooting including an electric 5-of-6 from behind the three-point line and 6-of-7 at the free throw line. Four of those free throws came in the final 22 seconds of the game to seal the Endicott win.

Over the weekend, Motroni scored 15 points with three rebounds and two assists as Endicott completed their two-game regular season sweep over the Curry with a 77-57 win. Once again, Motroni was efficient by hitting 5-of-9 shots from the floor including 3-of-4 three-point attempts.

Motroni is now averaging 13.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and nearly a steal per game in his sophomore campaign. Motroni and the Gulls look to finish the regular season strong starting with a challenging road test at Wentworth on Tuesday, February 17th. Tip-off with the Leopards is at 7:30 p.m.
