Kamahl Walker Collects CCC Weekly Honors after Championship Week

CCC Athletes of the Week - Week Ending March 1st

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) recognized Endicott sophomore guard Kamahl Walker (Worcester, Mass.) as the CCC Player of the Week after Walker catapulted the Gulls into the NCAA Tournament following the program's seventh conference championship, sixth as members of the CCC since 1999-00.

Walker averaged 24.3 points per game in the three playoff victories this week over Western New England in the quarterfinals, Eastern Nazarene in the semifinals, and Wentworth in the title game. Walker shot 55% from the floor, 47% (7-of-15) from three-point range, and 70% (14-of-20) at the free throw line. He also totaled 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.

This is the third CCC Player of the Week award for Walker who was named Co-Player of the Year and All-CCC First Team prior to the start of postseason play.

In Endicott's CCC Quarterfinal win over #7 Western New England, Walker knocked down 5-of-9 shots including 3-of-4 three-point field goals en route to scoring 14 points to send the Gulls into the semifinals. He also grabbed four boards and dished out a week-high four assists.

Two days later in the CCC Semifinals against the #3 seed Eastern Nazarene, Walker scored 11 of Endicott's 21 points in overtime as the Gulls were able to outlast the Lions 87-80. His overtime outburst delivered a career-high 32 points on 10-of-22 shooting, 3-of-8 from three-point range, and 9-of-13 at the charity stripe. He also hauled in a career-high eight rebounds as well as registering three assists and a steal.

Walker's final performance of the week was in Endicott's 90-60 triumph in the CCC Championship as he poured in a game-high 27 points on 11-of-16 from the floor, 1-of-3 behind the arc, and 4-of-5 at the line as well as hauling in seven defensive rebounds, distributing two assists, and causing four steals.

Walker and his teammates will now eagerly await their opponent in the First Round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Tournament which begins either on Thursday or Friday of this week. Details of that game will be revealed later on Monday afternoon.
