Salve Regina Tops Endicott, 21-14

Salve Regina Tops Endicott, 21-14

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Endicott football team fell to Salve Regina, 21-14, on Saturday afternoon at Toppa Field.

Trailing 14-6 in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks capitalized on a pair of short-yardage rushing touchdowns from Connor Welsh (North Middletown, N.J.) and a two-point conversion by John Whitehouse (Foxboro, Mass.) to complete the comeback win.

Endicott did everything it could defensively to keep Salve Regina off the scoreboard in the fourth after Welsh and Whitehouse evened up the contest on the Seahawks' first drive of the stanza.

From that point on, the Gulls forced a 3-and-out on the Seahawks' second drive (12:54) and later forced a fumble on their third drive at Endicott's own 10-yard line before the hosts eventually came away with the win.

In the first quarter, Kobe Gaudette (Saco, Maine) opened up the scoring via a 14-yard TD pass from Mike Ingraffia (Kings Park, N.Y.) at the 12:33 mark.

Ingraffia later made it 14-6 with four seconds to play in the first half when he scampered home from the one-yard line on fourth and goal.
