Eagan named NEFC Player of the Week

BEVERLY, Mass. – Sophomore \#Kevin Eagan\# (West Hartford, Conn.) has been named the New England Football Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Conference office on Sunday. Eagan anchored the Gulls’ defense in a 34-23 win over Mass. Maritime with a game-high 14 tackles and a forced fumble.

The sophomore linebacker, who was named the Conference’s Defensive Rookie of the Year last season, had seven solo and seven assisted tackles in the victory. His forced fumble came on a Mass. Maritime second down rush with 8:42 left in the fourth quarter, resulting in a turnover. The Gulls made good on the extra possession when \#Phil Konopka\# (Shelton, Conn.) connected with receiver \#Ryan Carino\# (Stratford, Conn.) for a 24 yard touchdown pass that sealed the win for the Blue and Green.

Eagan and the 2-1 Gulls return to action on Saturday when Endicott squares-off with Salve Regina University in the NEFC Boyd opener. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Middleton, R.I.
