The Endicott Gulls pulled out a stunning victory over the Salve Regina Seahawks in overtime propelling the Gulls to a record of 2-1 in the NEFC and 3-3 overall. The game was scoreless until 0:58 seconds into the 2nd quarter, when the Seahawks kicked a 29 yard field goal to put Salve Regina on top 3-0. Then with 7:54 to go in the 2nd quarter Salve Regina added another score when Andre Willis rushed 4 yards for the touchdown extending the Seahawk lead to 10-0.
Endicott immediately answered on the ensuing play with an Orlando Johnson 77 yard kickoff return for the score. This narrowed the Seahawk lead to 10-7 with 7:39 still left in the 2nd quarter. The next score was caused by the Seahawk's special teams when a bad snap led to a Jeff Antista safety, putting the Seahawks up 12-7.
With 10:47 to go in the 4th quarter Scott Peters caught a 2 yard touchdown pass from Jameson Pelkey putting the Gulls up 13-12, but the Gulls failed to complete the 2 point conversion. Salve Regina then jumped back on top with a 2 yard touchdown run from Sean Peters with 4:06 left in the game. On the ensuing kickoff, Dan Marshall returned the ball 36 yards to the Salve 49 yard line. Endicott then drove down the field and completed the drive with a touchdown when Pelkey connected with Marshall for 25 yards and the score. Jerry Demster then added the extra point setting the score of Endicott 20 Salve Regina 20 to be played in overtime.
The Gulls got the ball first in overtime and scored on the second play when Scott Peters caught a 23 yard pass from Pelkey putting the Gulls up 27-20. The Seahawks got a chance to counter back but failed when Andre Willis fumbled and the Gulls recovered the ball ending the game.
The Seahawks out gained the Gulls in total offensive yards 409 to 308. Marshall sparked the Endicott offense with 119 yards receiving, 51 return yards and 1 touchdown. Johnson came up big for the Gulls with 148 total return yards and 1 touchdown on a kickoff return. Peters also helped the Gulls offense put points on the board by catching 2 passes for touchdowns.
Sean Peters led the rushing attack for the Seahawks with 97 yards and 1 touchdown. Antonio Guzzo added 101 yards receiving and Rob Higle passed for 192 yards. Michael Baklik led the Gulls defense with 9 tackles and 2 pass break-ups. Joe Leaver also had a big day for Endicott recording 7 tackles, 2 of which were for a loss, and 1 sack for 11 yards. Brian Galvin headed the Seahawk defense with 9 tackles, 1 of which was for a loss. The Gulls will be away next weekend at Curry College at 12pm. The Gulls next home game is Saturday, November 8th versus MIT.
