During the past week of sports play, the Endicott student-athletes were relentless in their quest to win. As a result, the athletes were recognized in the Commonwealth Coast Conference and the New England Football Conference.
In the NEFC's 6th weekly report, Endicott football had two players placed on the Weekly Honor Roll. Offensive player, Dan Marshall of Reading MA, had four receptions for 97 yards including a 45-yard touchdown. On three kickoff returns, Marshall (wide receiver) ran for a total of 66 yards. On the defensive end, Andy West (defensive back) had 12 tackles with 10 solo stops and forced a fumble. West is a senior from Basking Ridge, NJ. This was the first nomination for Marshall and West.
Earning Offensive Player of the Week, in the CCC, was field hockey player Kim Doody. The junior had a pair of game-winning goals last week. With 2:45 left in the game against Fitchburg State, Doody scored the game-winner. In a victory over Anna Maria, the Laconia, NH native scored the first of three goals. This is Doody's second honor, as she was on the Honor Roll two weeks ago. Doody's teammate, junior Melissa Durrant of Pembroke, Bermuda, displayed a superb performance during the Fitchburg match-up, when she assisted on the game-tying goal. This is Durrant's first nomination giving by the CCC.
Representing the women's volleyball team in the CCC nominations are freshman Sara Moore and junior Morgan Tranquist. From her middle hitter position, Moore averaged 2.43 kills and 1.75 blocks per game in five matches. She was named to the all-tournament team at the Eastern Connecticut State University Invitational. As a result of her outstanding performance, Moore earned Co-Rookie of the Week Honors. Gaining recognition for Player of the Week honors, Tranquist had 28 kills and 14 blocks, as the Gulls went 2-3 on the week. This is the first nomination for the Hamden, CT native.
As the women's soccer team continues their conference revenge, forwards Caitlin D'Amario and Leah Walters remain consistent in the attack for Endicott. Awarded Rookie of the Week recognition, D'Amario had three goals in two games last week. She scored a pair in the Gulls' 3-0 win over Eastern Nazarene and one in a win over Anna Maria. Also scoring in the Eastern Nazarene win was Walters. Her goal was the game-winner in the conference victory. Against Anna Maria, it was Walters' ability to serve the ball into the box that gave the Gulls their 8th CCC win. During the victory, Walters had three assists.
On behalf of the men's soccer team, senior John Haskos of Old Lyme, CT was placed on the Honor Roll list. Haskos scored a goal and assisted on another as the Gulls defeated Eastern Nazarene, 2-0. This is Haskos first nomination.
