Gold Records Career 100th Point In Tough Loss To Boston College

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's club ice hockey team traveled the Boston College before Thanksgiving break. Entering the contest the Gulls were ranked #7 in the region while the Eagles sat in the #5 spot. Senior Tad Gold (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) tallied his 100th career point in the contest but it was not enough as the Blue and Green fell 4-2. Endicott is still slotted at #7 in the region as they hold a 7-4 overall record.

The entire first two periods of the game were a scoreless battle for both sides. After two intermissions the third period was where the magic happened. The Eagles broke the ice at 15:30 as senior Blake Chapman (Edina, Minn.) and junior Keith Nicholson (Suffern, N.Y.) made a combo play to sneak the puck past freshman goaltender Nick Russo (Waltham, Mass.).

Three minutes later the Gulls answered back after senior Cameron MacLeod (Hampton Falls, N.H.) finished the play from senior Ryan Pratt (Waltham, Mass.) to make it a 1-1 game on a power play opportunity.  With 8:52 remaining in the game Boston College's Brett Mahoney (Brighton, Mass.) made it a 2-1 game on a solo play.

Following Mahoney's lead on the line with Nicholson, Ciaran Cleary (San Jose, Calif.) they made it a two goal game. The Gulls would not go away quietly however. With 52 seconds remaining in the game Rand and Gold made a nice combo play to make it a 3-2 score and giving Gold his 100th career point. In the final seconds the Eagles slipped an insurance goal into the back of the net to make it a 4-2 final to give the Blue and Green their fourth loss on the season.

The Gulls will take the ice next this Saturday, December 7th as they travel to Boston University for a 9:00 p.m. start.
