MacLeod Tallies Hat Trick In 4-2 Victory Over CCSU

HAMILTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's club ice hockey team tallied their fifth win in a row on Saturday after revenging their only loss on the season in a W, 4-2 win over Central Connecticut State in their second meeting. Senior Cameron MacLeod (Hampton, N.H.) tallied his second hat trick of the season. The Gulls now stand at 6-1 overall in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).

The Blue and Green came out hard as they controlled the first period. 11 minutes in, MacLeod tallied his first goal of the game after he controlled a feed from junior Jake Rand (Winthrop, Mass.) and beat sophomore goaltender Zachary Gosselin (Wethersfield, Vt.) to take the early lead.

Less than four minutes later it was junior Brendan Moore's turn to get a point on the board after he made a nice combination play with freshman Tyler Peabody (Mendon, Mass.) to find the back of the net to take the 2-0 lead entering the first intermission.

The Blue Devils came out firing in the second period to try and get a tally keeping the Gulls defense busy. 14 minutes into the frame freshman Conor Stanley (South Windsor, Conn.) finished the play started by sophomore Frank Pisano (East Haven, Conn.) and freshman Andrew Mazurkiewicz (Manchester, Conn.) to make it a one goal game.

The Stanley goal would be the last of the period for both sides as the Gulls took the one goal advantage entering the second intermission.

The third period was controlled by the Gulls as they scored two more goals. The first came at 17:02 from a second great combination play by MacLeod and Rand as MacLeod earned his second goal of the game after he sent a shot at net that slipped past Gosselin to make it a two goal game in Endicott's favor.

MacLeod was not finished yet as two minutes went by until his third goal on the line with seniors Tad Gold (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) and Ryan Pratt (Waltham, Mass.) as he was able to beat the Blue Devils defense and find the back of the net to make it a 4-1 score.

For the remainder of the period CCSU worked freshman goaltender Nick Russo (Waltham, Mass.) hard and with 10 minutes remaining in regulation they finally got a second goal on him after freshman Adam Mink (West Haven, Conn.) controlled the puck off a pass from Mazurkiewicz to move the score to 4-2.

The goal would not be enough as the Blue and Green defensive unit held the Blue Devils for the remainder of the period to take the 4-2 victory.

Endicott will look ahead to November 8th and 9th when they play a weekend doubleheader. The first will be on Friday when they travel to Connecticut for an 8:00 p.m. start. Saturday they will host Keene State at 7:30 p.m. at the Pingree School.
