BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 4 nationally ranked Endicott men's rugby team defeated Roger Williams, 33-14, on Sunday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.
Prior to the match, seniors Jordan Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.), Andrew Coscia (Orange, Conn.), Brad DiGiacomo (Simsbury, Conn.), Kyle Ernest (Severna Park, Md.), Toby Gibbons (Devonshine, Bermuda), Drew Hodges (Mason, N.H.), Pablo Jimenez (Madrid, Spain), and Will Mason (Arlington, Mass.) were all honored for their contributions to the men's rugby program and the Endicott community.
In a game that saw the Gulls down a man for much of the game, the defense produced a master class as they shut down the Hawks attack again and again.
Matthew Bant (Jenkintown, Pa.) logged two tries in the victory, while Jordan Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.), Andrew Coscia (Orange, Conn.), and Ian Kearney (Cork, Ireland) each recorded one try apiece.
Will Petrilli III (North Chelmsford, Mass.) earned player of the match with a gritty performance from the opening whistle. Petrill stepped up time and time again in defence and provided near perfect service when his team needed him.
Jacob Marshall (Wells, Maine) received tackle of the match- as the injuries stacked up, Marshall stood up on defense with some bone jarring hits and a try saver for the ages on the right wing.
Kyle Ernest (Severna Park, Md.) converted four of his five conversion attempts on the day.
