BEVERLY, Mass. – In our second installment of #TrackTuesday, we get to know women's cross country and track & field student-athlete Abigail Keim (Williston, Vt.).

Endicott Athletics (EC): Discuss your experiences so far at Endicott both running wise, and school related.

Abigail Keim (AK): My time at Endicott College has been amazing so far, both academically and athletically. On the team, I've gotten to know so many incredible athletes and people who I now have strong relationships with. I've also had the opportunity to witness how our team has come together, pushed each other, and overcome challenges; all lessons that can extend beyond athletics. I've also truly enjoyed the academics at Endicott. Most professors are really receptive and truly invested in their students, which has helped me enjoy and learn from each and every class. As a result, my experiences at Endicott have been largely positive and have helped me develop both in the classroom and on the course.

EC: Why did you choose to attend Endicott?

AK: Endicott has a unique approach to teaching students and preparing them for life after college. I like the idea of a liberal arts education, but I think many liberal arts schools lose connection to the outside world and don't prepare students for their paths after college. In contrast, Endicott is a school that mostly focuses beyond college. From the internship program, to the career center, and to faculty research projects, Endicott helps grow students into experienced, well-rounded, and qualified competitors for whatever post-collegiate path they wish to pursue.

EC: What are your goals for track season next year?

AK: I'm not really sure of my personal goals as I tend to focus more on cross country, but I really want to lay the foundation for a successful team, and help create the right culture. Having the chance to be a member of a team as it begins is amazing because we can build and shape this team directly. I want to establish a strong work ethic and sense of dedication within this team so that the program can be driven to improve constantly. For me, my goals are really about having a strong, lasting, positive impact on this program rather than running any certain times.

EC: Talk about what excites you the most about the track program next year.

AK: I'm really excited to see my sport be recognized by the creation of this program, and I'm really looking forward to helping build the team. The birth of a track and field team gives my teammates, our future recruits, and I the chance to be part of the founding generation of what I hope will become a powerful program at Endicott. I also believe the addition of a track and field team will benefit the cross country team as well, and help attract more talent and potential to our school.

EC: How has being a young leader of the women's cross country team helped you adjust to collegiate running?

AK: Being a leader on this team has helped me challenge myself and stay committed to running. There are days where training is tough and I want to take a break, but remembering that my teammates are looking up to me holds me accountable. Collegiate running is certainly a big step-up from high school, but being a part of this team has made the transition smoother, and has pushed me to become a better athlete every day.

EC: Talk about your major and the opportunities that come with it.

AK: As a double major in Biology and Psychology, I have many choices in my future career and almost endless opportunities of pathways. I am currently interested in the medical field, and my major has allowed me to explore this area through classes and my first two internships.
