WENHAM, Mass. - Cross-town rivals Endicott and Gordon College battled to a 1-1 draw in a hotly contested conference contest in Wenham, Mass. on Tuesday afternoon. The tie brings the Gulls' record to 8-2-2 overall and 7-0-1 in TCCC play while Gordon moves to 3-5-2 and 3-2-1 in conference action.

The first half featured very limited scoring opportunities as each team could only muster three shots in the opening 45 minutes. Endicott junior Caitlin Flynn (Southold, N.Y.) used speed and ball control to generate the offensive push for the Gulls in the first frame. Gordon's Erin Strom (Wheaton, Ill.) also had the potential to do damage with two free kicks, but entered the intermission empty handed. In the 43rd minute Christin Peters (Feeding Hills, Mass.) fired a long shot directly on net, but senior goalkeeper Amy Meuse (Saugus, Mass.) was up to the challenge, and the first half ended knotted at zero.

Endicott broke through in the second half when Kellie Lajoie (York, Maine) converted a header in the 57th minute on a nice cross from Karyn Plante (Sanford, Maine).

The Scots tried to counter when senior forward Kristen Groff (Lititz, Pa.) snuck behind the defense and beat the keeper to the ball but her shot trickled just wide, leaving Gordon still trailing by one.

Gordon finally broke the ice in the 71st minute on a well-placed corner kick from Erin Strom. The boot was headed by Amanda Whittet (Rye, N.H.) and collected by Lauren Enright (Santa Barbara, Calif.). The senior forward slammed in a shot from close range to tie the game, and tally her first goal of the season.

The subsequent overtime was marked by a number of opportunities from both teams. Abby Ytzen (Des Moines, Iowa) made a game saving stop on a shot from close range by Flynn, and Strom had another free kick that sailed just wide, as neither team was able to produce a victory.

Gordon (3-5-2, 3-2-1 TCCC) will return to action on Homecoming weekend, October 11th, when they face Eastern Nazarene at 12pm. Endicott (8-2-2, 7-0-1, TCCC) will host Curry at 4pm on Saturday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. The TCCC showdown between the Gulls and the Colonials will be broadcast live on Endicott All-Access beginning at 3:55 p.m.
