Roger Williams Holds Off Endicott To Secure CCC Championship Three-Peat, 12-9

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's lacrosse team fell to Roger Williams, 12-9, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.

With the win, the Hawks (14-6) captured their third straight CCC Championship and earned the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Carly Pierce (Exeter, N.H.), Alex Palermo (Reading, Mass.), and Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn.) all scored twice in the setback. 

Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.), Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.), and Katy Garvin (Mansfield, Mass.) also contributed solo tallies for the Gulls.

In goal, Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) a game-high stopped 14 shots (9-8 overall).

The Gulls trailed 5-1 at the end of the first quarter but never wavered, bringing the game within three goals (7-4) at the half.

From there, Schenk buried two physical tallies before Pierce tied up the contest at the 11:06 mark at 7-7.

Roger Williams answered with three markers of its own at 9:50, 6:32, and 3:41, respectively, and maintained that edge on the scoreboard the rest of the way.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott has appeared in the CCC title game for seven straight seasons. 
  • Palermo ends the season with the team lead in goals (42). 
  • Pierce notched her 100th career point. 

WHAT'S NEXT

Roger Williams (14-6) advances to NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament. Endicott's season comes to a close at 11-8.
