Akins, Smith Receive CCC Weekly Awards

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott women's lacrosse student-athletes Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) and Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.) have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly honors for the first time in their careers, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Akins was named the CCC Defensive Player of the Week, while Smith garnered CCC Rookie of the Week honors.

Last week (April 3-9) for the Gulls, Akins was solid in goal in a crucial CCC matchup with Roger Williams.

Akins turned away 10 of the 20 shots she faced from the league's top offense to earn the 12-10 win.

It was Akins' highest number of saves in conference play this year.

Meanwhile, Smith also had a major impact in the win over the Hawks last Saturday.

She registered a hat trick in the 12-10 victory, potting all three of her shot attempts, one of which came from a free-position opportunity.

Smith added one draw control and one ground ball to her stat line in the victory too.

WHAT'S NEXT
