Spencer Lange Named Next Head Coach of Endicott Cross Country

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's and women's cross country head coach Nick Radkewich has moved on to become the next head coach of Belmont Abbey (N.C.) track & field. Radkewich leaves the cross country program in the hands of Spencer Lange, a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic cross country and track student-athlete at NCAA Division I Coast Carolina, who has served as an assistant coach since the 2013 season.

"Coach Lange brings a tremendous amount of passion and integrity to our cross country program," said Director of Athletics Brian Wylie. "In the time he's spent at Endicott, he has become an integral member of our department and has dedicated himself in establishing a young cross country program that is positioned to become very special in the next few years. We are excited to see Coach Lange incorporate his leadership and vision into the overall development of this program in the coming years. "

Both the men's and women's cross country programs, under Radkewich, have experienced considerable growth and success in recent years in the highly-competitive Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field. In particular, the academic expectations and standards have propelled the program to be among the league leaders with a combined 12 runners achieving CCC Academic All-Conference honors.

Over the past two seasons, the women have placed fourth in the CCC Championship race while the men managed a fifth place team finish. Individually, top runner Erin Haynes (Oakham, Mass.) has earned a spot on the All-CCC Team while achieving CCC Academic All-Conference and Endicott Scholar-Athlete honors as an athletic training major. For the men, Radkewich coached up 2013 CCC Rookie of the Year Noah Mondello while helping freshman Zachary Marshall to three top-10 finishes in his rookie campaign.

Lange, a 2013 graduate of Coastal Carolina where he earned his bachelor of science degree in economics, has been heavily involved with the day-to-day operations of the Endicott cross country programs, worked directly with student-athletes on skill development and improvement, assisted in the recruiting process, and organized practice and competition schedules.

"I feel very fortunate to be named the head coach of the men's and women's cross country programs at Endicott," said Lange. "Serving the past two seasons as the assistant coach under Nick Radkewich has provided me with a great deal of preparation to lead the Gulls to continued and elevated success. I wish Nick the best in his future coaching endeavors."

"The academic and athletic support from the administration at Endicott has been nothing short of spectacular and has prepared these student-athletes for a bright future.  Our President, Dr. Richard Wylie, VP of Admission and Financial Aid, Mr. Tom Redman, and Director of Athletics, Dr. Brian Wylie, and countless others are all major contributors to the development of the athletic programs, bringing out the best in these student-athletes.  I am confident in the continuous growth of this program due to the passionate group of both returning and incoming student-athletes.  It will be an exciting year for the Gulls on the cross country course and I'm looking forward to getting to work."

Lange is also native to the North Shore as he graduated from Manchester-Essex Regional High School in 2009. He was a four-year letter winner and two-year captain in cross country while at Manchester-Essex. By the time he was a senior at Coastal Carolina, Lange had recorded personal-bests in the 8K (27:22.08) and 5K (17:00.89) and a 10K time of 35:24.59 at the NCAA Southeast Regional. In track & field, Lange competed in the 3,000 meters (9:39.92), 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:09.09). He was a Big South Presidential Honor Roll recipient in 2011-12.
