Endicott selected to host NCAA First Round Tournament match against Kean

2013 NCAA DIII Men's Volleyball Tournament Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Saturday, April 20th at 7:00 pm, the Endicott men's volleyball team will host its first ever NCAA DIII Tournament match in program history when they take Kean in the First Round at MacDonald Gymnasium.  The tournament's nine-team bracket was released today by the NCAA which features seven of the top 10 ranked teams in the country.

Endicott (22-9), the only unranked team in the field of nine, is coming off their first NECC Championship which awarded the Gulls an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.  Their opponent, the #14 Kean Cougars (25-7) captured the Skyline Conference title with a 3-1 win over Sage this past Saturday.

Endicott and Kean are two of just six automatic qualifiers into the NCAA Tournament which also includes Baruch (CUNYAC), Juniata (CVC), Rivier (GNAC), and Nazareth (UVC).  At-large bids went to Springfield, UC Santa Cruz, and Stevens.

The Gulls and Cougars met back on March 9th at Endicott's March Mania Tournament.  Endicott forced a fifth-set and held a 13-10 lead in the deciding frame but Kean rallied to take the set 16-14 and the match 3-2.

The winner of Endicott versus Kean will face off against the #1 ranked Springfield Pride as the remaining eight teams will compete on April 26th-27th at MIT's DuPont Athletic Center – Rockwell Cage.
