Endicott takes #10 Rivier to four sets; beats Lasell 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Endicott men's volleyball finished in third place at the MIT Invitational, which played host to some of the region's top teams, as the Gulls went 3-1 overall.  Junior middle and captain Mike Coniglione (Glenville, N.Y.) was named to the All-Tournament Team after posting 33 kills in four matches. 

The Gulls improve to 7-3 overall on the season and return to conference play on Wednesday, February 20th with a home match against NECC foe Newbury at 7:00 pm in MacDonald Gymnasium.  Endicott is 18-10 all-time against the Nighthawks with victories in three of their past four meetings.  The Nighthawks are 2-5 this season with a 1-1 mark against NECC opponents. 

Match Three vs #10 Rivier

Facing Rivier for the second time this season, the Gulls improved up on their previous meeting by taking a set against the nationally ranked Raiders.  Endicott lost 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19) and fell to 5-27 all-time against Rivier. 

The Gulls were led by outside hitter Brennan Lowe (Malibu, Calif.) who had a team-high 11 kills and Coniglione who struck 10 kills on 21 attempts with zero errors.  Freshman setter Tyler Bacon (Cypress, Calif.) had 30 assists in the loss. 

Match Four vs Lasell

Already with an undefeated record against Lasell dating back to their first ever meeting in 2000, the Gulls once again registered a win over the Lasers 3-1 (25-17, 25-23, 14-25, 25-18) in their final match at the MIT Invitational.  Endicot is now 21-0 versus Lasell.  

Junior captain Travis Netherton (Waukegan, Ill.) and freshman outside John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) tied for a team-high nine kills while Coniglione completed his strong weekend effort with eight more kills.
