Endicott appoints Calderwood to lead men's tennis program

Jan. 9, 2009

BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott College Director of Athletics Brian Wylie has announced the promotion of Eric Calderwood from assistant to head men's tennis coach effective immediately. Calderwood helped lead the Gulls to their most successful season in program history last year, as the Blue and Green went 12-6 overall and 6-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

A 2005 graduate of the University of Arizona at Tucson, Calderwood holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. Prior to his enrollment at the University of Arizona, Calderwood attended Plymouth State University where he was a two-sport athlete in both tennis and football. Calderwood has since gone on to play professional football, serving as the place kicker for the Continental Indoor Football League's New England Surge.

After graduation, Calderwood entered the insurance business as a Property and Casualty agent with The Global Insurance Network in Woburn, Mass. He is currently employed by the Byette Insurance Agency in Tewksbury.

"With this promotion of coach Calderwood, we immediately add an individual that brings continuity, leadership and a tremendous commitment of infusing the mission of Endicott academics with the aspirations of winning a Conference title," said Brian Wylie. "It is with great anticipation that the team returns to the court to build upon last year's most impressive 12-6 record and begin the pursuit of their first ever championship banner."
