Barker, DiSalvo Pick Up CCC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. — Two members of the Endicott men's lacrosse team have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.) and Nick DiSalvo (Narragansett, R.I.) collected Specialist of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.


THOMAS BARKER

Barker went 31-of-50 (62 percent) at the X in the Gulls 2-0 week. The junior specialist added a team-high 23 ground balls across the two games and had two points, one goal, and one assist.
 
Against Western New England, Barker went 14-29 and scooped up 11 ground balls. Also had a goal and an assist in the contest. His assist came in the second quarter to cut the Bears lead to 5-2. The Needham, Mass. scored his fourth goal of the season with 12:54 left in the fourth quarter to push the Gulls lead to 13-10.
 
Then versus Nichols, he finished 17-21 at the X and picked up 12 ground balls. In the first half, he won 11 of 14 face-offs in the as Endicott took a 10-2 lead going to halftime. 

This is his 11th career CCC Specialist of the Week award.


NICK DISALVO

In a 2-0 week for the Gulls, DiSalvo was part of a defensive unit that on average gave up nine goals per game. DiSalvo caused three turnovers and scooped up 10 ground balls.

In a 15-12 victory over Western New England, the junior picked up a career-high seven ground balls and caused two turnovers. Both turnovers came in the final minute of the second quarter as his turnover and ground ball pickup led to an Endicott goal that gave them a 7-6 lead. Then with Western New England threatening at the end of the half, DiSalvo caused another turnover to thwart the attack.

Then followed up against Nichols by scooped up three more ground balls and caused another turnover in a 19-6 victory. 

DiSalvo was part of a clearing unit for Endicott that went 41-48 over the two games to help the offense secure extra possessions.

This is DiSalvo's first career CCC Defensive Player of the Week award.
