SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Following a weekend in which he finished in a tie for eighth place overall in the 125 participant field, Endicott golf sophomore Drew Benshoff (Concord, Mass.) was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Golfer of the Week for the first time this season.
Benshoff's performance helped lead the Gulls to a 10th place finish among the 25 team Duke Nelson Invitational at the par-72 Ralph Myhre Golf Course. The 6,376 yard course saw the Endicott sophomore shoot in the 70's on both days of the two day event, shooting a one-over 73 on the second day the Invitational after shooting a 79 on the first day. His two-day total of 152 was five strokes better than any other CCC competitor in the field.
The team is off until the weekend when they travel to East Longmeadow, Mass. to compete in the two-day Blazer Invitational. Tee times on both Saturday and Sunday are set for 10:00 a.m. as they Gulls will use the event as a final tune-up before the CCC Championship Qualifier on October 6.
