Men’s Golf Finishes Sixth At Rain-Shortened RIC Invitational

WARWICK, R.I. – The Endicott men's golf team tied for sixth place overall out of 16 teams in the Rhode Island College (RIC) Invitational this weekend. Only scores from Friday's first round were recorded as Saturday's portion of the invitational was cancelled due to inclement weather.

RIC won the invitational with a one-day team score of 315, while Worcester State University (317), UMass Dartmouth (318), Nichols College (319), and Johnson & Wales University (320) followed in respective order. The Gulls (323) tied for sixth place with Manhattanville College, and RIC's B-Team. Babson College (324) placed ninth, and Western New England University rounded out the top-10 with a team score of 325.

TOP QUOTE

"Windy, and wet weather cut the tournament short, so it was tough to gather momentum with the conditions," said Endicott men's golf head coach Tom Smith. "Overall, the team played well and there were a lot of quality shots by the Gulls. We were looking forward to day two to make a move up the leaderboard, but now we will set our focus on getting ready for the Hampton Inn Classic."

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

  • As a team, the Gulls tallied nine birdies, which ranked tied for second-most in round one.
  • Teal highlighted Endicott with three birdies total on the day (tied for second).
