Men’s Basketball Bests Salve Regina, 78-73

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team defeated Salve Regina, 78-73, in conference action on Wednesday night at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.), Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.), and Matt Garry (Southington, Conn.) all scored in double figures for the Gulls.

Echevarria led the trio with 25 points, while Hill and Garry poured in 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Endicott took a 9-7 lead via a Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) layup with 14:34 on the clock in the first half and never trailed the rest of the way.

The Gulls produced a 39-30 advantage at the break and only allowed Salve Regina to pull within three points on three separate occasions in the final stanza (9:58, 53-50 | 7:55, 57-54 | 5:45, 61-58).

Each time Endicott answered the bell, ballooning its lead out to as many as 11 points five different times after the Seahawks' final comeback bid with 5:45 to play (69-58, 3:43 | 71-60, 3:31 | 73-62, 2:41 | 74-63, 1:28 | 78-67, 0:32).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 26-18 all-time against Salve Regina.
  • The Gulls shot a season-high 42.9-percent from the field.
  • Endicott earned its first road victory of the season.
