Men's Basketball Tops Curry On Senior Day, 89-67; Keith Brown Reaches 2,000 Point Milestone

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's basketball team defeated Curry College, 89-67, on Saturday afternoon at MacDonald Gymnasium. 

In a pre-game ceremony prior to the matchup, seniors Jake Rudolph (Topsfield, Mass.), Mathew Catizone (Woburn, Mass.), Jimmy Campbell (South Hamilton, Mass.), Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.), Brendan Johnson (Weare, N.H.), and Mitchell Roy (Newport, Vt.) were all honored for their contributions towards the Endicott men's basketball program and Endicott community in a pregame ceremony. 

In the victory, Brown became the first player in Endicott men's basketball history to reach the 2,000 point mark. The senior guard hit a free throw at 1:59 of the second half to accomplish the milestone. He finished the contest as the games leading scorer with 36 points which gives him 2,001 for his career. 

As for the game, the Gulls stormed out of the gate with a 38-8 run and never looked back from there earning leads as big as 34 in the contest. 

Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) was Endicott's next leading scorer earning 12 points, while Catizone closely followed with eight. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • The Gulls earned the #1 seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball tournament with the win today. 
  • Brown also brought down 11 rebounds earning his fifth double-double of the season. 
  • Brown has scored 20 or more points in 10 games this season.
  • The Gulls led wire-to-wire in the contest. 
  • Endicott Improves to 27-13 all-time versus Curry. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (18-7, 12-4) will earn a bye straight into the semifinal round of the CCC tournament which will take place on Thursday at MacDonald Gymnasium at a time to be determined later.
