Endicott All-Region Award Winners

BEVERLY, Mass. – D3Football.com released their annual All-Region teams and Endicott senior placekicker and punter Dylan Rushe (Palos Verdes, Calif.) and sophomore wide receiver Alec Matys (Woburn, Mass.) were named to the All-East Region squad for their efforts in leading the Endicott football team to an 8-3 record and their second NEFC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in four years.

Rushe, a 2013 NEFC First Team Kicker and Punter, appeared on the All-East Region team twice as a Second Team placekicker and a Third Team punter.  In his four years wearing the Blue and Green, Rushe made the D3Football.com All-Region team as a placekicker four times (2010-13) and twice as a punter (2012-13).  Rushe ranked fifth in the conference in overall scoring and first in scoring among placekickers with 85 points as he made 14-of-17 field goal attempts and 43-of-46 PATs.  Nationally, Rushe ranked fourth in the country in field goals per game (1.4), 30th in field goal percentage (.824), and 49th in overall scoring per game (8.5). On the season, Rushe was 5-of-6 on field goal attempts longer than 40 yards including a season-high 54-yarder against Coast Guard

In the punting game, Rushe averaged 40.8 yards per attempt with 21 of his 43 punts falling inside the opposition's 20 yard line. He set a program record with seven punts inside the 20 in the NEFC Championship game versus Salve Regina one week after delivering six against Western New England.  Six punts went longer than 50 yards with his season-high going for 63.

Matys, a NEFC First Team Wide Receiver, is the first Endicott receiver to be named All-Region in the program's 11-year history.  Matys landed on the D3Football.com All-East Region Third Team after posting a conference-best 12 touchdown receptions in 2013.  Matys hauled in 56 catches for 798 yards for an average of 14.2 yards per catch and 72.5 yards per game.  Matys turned in an impressive run of seven games with at least one touchdown grab from week four to week 11, including multiple touchdown games against Maine Maritime (3) on Homecoming, at MIT (2) on November 2nd, and in the NEFC Championship at home against Salve Regina (2) on November 16th.  Matys' output in 2013 is the second-best in program history, short of Mike Murphy's '13 season in 2012 that ended with 15 touchdowns and a Endicott record 880 yards receiving.
