NEFC Names Pelletier Special Teams Player of the Week

BEVERLY, Mass. - A balanced offensive attack and strong defense helped Endicott secure a 52-21 win over MIT on Saturday, but freshman Jake Pelletier's (Trumbull, Conn.) efforts on special teams earned him NEFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Pelletier recorded four tackles on special teams, recovered a fumble which resulted in an Endicott touchdown, and continued to excel returning punts in the Gulls victory.

Leading 28-7 at halftime, the Blue and Green came out firing in the second half as quarterback Drew Frenette (New Bedford, Mass.) found Alec Matys (Woburn, Mass.) for his second touchdown of the game to extend the Endicott lead to 35-7.  On the ensuing kickoff, the MIT returner coughed up the ball on a force by Jamison Craft (Phillipston, Mass.) which was recovered by Pelletier.  Five plays later, Endicott was back in the end zone courtesy of a one-yard touchdown run by sophomore Spencer Walsh (Malden, Mass.).

Walsh found his name among the NEFC Honor Roll winners for his 173 yards on the ground with three touchdowns.  Walsh now has five straight weeks with at least two touchdowns scored and is just a few yards shy of 1,000 on the season.  He leads the NEFC in rushing yards with 998.

Also on the Honor Roll is senior linebacker Nick Kozlowski (Beverly, Mass.) who led the Gulls with nine tackles, six of which were solo, against the MIT offense.  Kozlowski now leads the team with 61 tackles.

Endicott plays the first of two home games to end the regular season on Saturday, November 9th at 5:00 pm against Western New England.
