Rushe, Silva Claim Weekly Honors Following NEFC Title Game Efforts

BEVERLY, Mass. - Senior kicker and punter Dylan Rushe (Palos Verdes, Calif.) and safety Jason Silva (Palatine, Ill.) were named Special Teams and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, following their performances in Saturday's 24-0 win over Salve Regina to award Endicott the league championship.

Rushe, now a four-time NEFC Special Teams Player of the Week in 2013, did his part to limit one of the conference's top punt returners by pinning the Seahawks inside their own 20-yard line a school record seven times on nine attempts.  He averaged 38.7 yards per punt and saw one of his kicks downed at the Salve Regina one-yard line.  Rushe also made a 27-yard field goal in the first half to give Endicott a 3-0 lead and converted on all three extra point attempts in the third quarter.

Silva recorded two interceptions in the NEFC Championship, one on the final play of the first half and the other on the first play of the second half to help garner Defensive Player of the Week honors.  He also broke up two passes, nearly hauling in an errant pass for a third pick, while recording seven tackles.

The Gulls also saw junior quarterback Drew Frenette (New Bedford, Mass.) appear on the offensive honor roll for his performance under center, throwing for 250 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions.  He ran his streak of consecutive games without an interception to seven and now has a 24-4 TD:Int ratio with over 2,500 yards passing on the season.
