NEFC Champions Endicott reveal 2011 fall schedule

NEFC Champions Endicott reveal 2011 fall schedule
The 2011 Endicott football schedule has been released and the Gulls head into their fall campaign as the defending NEFC Champions. The Blue and Green look to repeat last year’s success beginning on September 3rd for their season and home opener.

2011 Endicott Football Schedule

Home and Season Opener

On September 3rd, Endicott kicks off their 2011 season with home game against NEFC Bogan Division opponent Framingham State University. Framingham State had a stellar 2010 season, going 9-2 overall with a 6-1 divisional record. Their only losses came against Endicott, 33-27 triple overtime loss at home, and Maine Maritime, the eventual Bogan Division winners. Against the Gulls in last season’s week one game, the Rams held a 14-0 lead in the fourth quarter before Endicott score 17 unanswered points to take the lead. A field goal for Framingham State late in regulation forced overtime, but a quarterback sneak for the Gulls in the third overtime would be the difference-maker in a thrilling week one victory. Framingham State went on to reach the ECAC Northeast Bowl and pulled off some overtime magic of their own, stunning Norwich University 27-21 for the win.

Get on the Bus

Endicott students can show their Gulls spirit in week two of the season by getting on the Pride Ride, a fan bus that will travel to Westfield State University on September 10th. The Gulls and Owls play each other for the first time ever at Westfield State’s Alumni Field. In 2010, Westfield State went 5-5 overall, 4-3 in NEFC Bogan Division play, and 3-3 in MASCAC conference games.

Fourth Quarter Comebacks, Relived

On September 24th and October 1st, Endicott squares off against two Boyd Division opponents they mounted dramatic fourth quarter comebacks against. On September 24th at Endicott Stadium, the Gulls host Salve Regina University. Down 28-9 with less than 10 minutes left in last year’s game, the Gulls scored three fourth quarter touchdowns against the Seahawks to win 29-28. One week later under similar circumstances, Endicott rallied to beat Curry 28-24 after trailing 24-13 in the midway through the fourth quarter. The Gulls travel to Curry on October 1st this season.

Homecoming

The Blue and Green will look to win their third straight game on Homecoming Weekend as Endicott welcomes NEFC Boyd Division opponent Plymouth State University on October 15th. On Homecoming Weekend the last two seasons, Endicott was able to earn a sizeable wins over Nichols College but in 2011, Plymouth State poses a tougher challenge. The Panthers went 6-4 overall last year which included a 10-3 win over the Gulls, Endicott’s lone Boyd Division loss of the season. A two-yard quarterback keeper by the Panthers with 8:37 to go in the fourth quarter proved to be the key play of the game. Plymouth State finished 4-3 in division play in 2010 and ranked fifth out of nine teams.

Boyd Division Rivalry

Last year’s Boyd Division winner was mostly solidified following a 23-15 Endicott victory over Western New England in Beverly. Endicott and Western New England will face off once again on October 29th at Golden Bear Stadium in Springfield. In that game last year, the Blue and Green rode the legs of Mike Lane (Medfield, Mass.) to the tune of 272 all-purpose yards, including 183 rushing yards on 47 carries. The Golden Bears finished with a 9-2 overall record and a 6-1 divisional record. Western New England’s ninth win of the season came in the ECAC North Central Bowl Championship as the Golden Bears amassed 66 points in a 66-41 win over Maine Maritime Academy. Endicott has a 5-3 record against Western New England dating back to the inaugural season for the Gulls in 2003.
