John Leekley Named Head Crew Coach

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott Athletics and Recreation Department has announced the hiring of John Leekley as its men's and women's crew head coach for the 2016-17 academic year.

Leekley comes to Endicott from Washington College where he served as head coach of the men's rowing program for the last nine seasons. During that time, Leekley led the Shoremen to five Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships (2010-11, 2013-15) and an appearance at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships in 2016 (13th out of 29 boats), all while earning six Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Coach of the Year accolades (2009-11, 2013, 2015-16) along the way.

Leekley, who graduated from Washington College in 2001 with a degree in history, was a two-time captain of the Shoremen rowing team. He also earned team Most Improved Rower honors as a junior and team Most Valuable Rower laurels as a senior.

Aside from his accolades at Washington College, Leekley is an USRowing member and Level 3 certified coach. Additionally, Leekley is a former member of both the Potomac Boat and Capital Rowing Clubs and is currently a coaching clinic speaker for Rowing Talks (USRowing Level I & II).
