Endicott Falls to the UVM Catamounts

Endicott Falls to the UVM Catamounts

Dec. 4, 2006

Endicott traveled to Vermont on Sunday afternoon to face a very reputable college club team of the University of Vermont. Spirits were high in the locker room before the game as the Gulls were coming off of a nice win against MIT the previous night. At the start of the game it seemed as though it may be a long afternoon for the Gulls and freshman goalie Matt Murray due to their slow start. However, the Gulls adjusted quickly to the tempo of the game and held the Catamounts to a single goal in the first period which was a result of a scrum in front of the net for the first score of the period. The second period had a series of multiple chances for both teams, yet the goalies in the pipes took control of the game and stopped shot after shot keeping the second period scoreless and full of big hits. UVM's aggressive and hard hitting style of play was a shock to the Gulls who are more of a skill based team, but they overcame the storm and hung in the game until the third. The third period would prove to be the deciding factor in this one as the Gulls came out flying, and refusing to lose this game without a fight. However, just seconds into the period, the Catamounts sniped a beautiful shot past Murray to go up 2-0. Following the second goal of the game for the Cats, they netted a third goal to put them up 3-0. Captain Adam Partaledis refused to have his team to be shut out, as he had a beautiful tip in front of the net to score and notch his first goal of his graduate campaign. With only :32 second left in the game, a comeback seemed dismal until junior forward Chris Garofalo netted a nice shot from the low slot to cut the lead to one. The Gulls were unable to pull off the comeback as they lost 3-2 to the Vermont Catamounts. The Gulls will host Bryant on December 9 at 7:00pm.
