No. 5/9 Baseball Holds Off Suffolk, 10-8

EAST BOSTON, Mass. — The No. 5/9 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated Suffolk, 10-8, on Tuesday evening in conference action at East Boston Memorial Park.

WP (4-0): Brady Stuart (Hudson, Mass.) — 1 1/3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
LP (2-2): Harry Painter (Essex, Mass.) — 5 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 3 K

Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.), Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.), Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.), and John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) all produced multi-hit performances for the Gulls

Suffolk made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth by scoring three runs, but Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) eventually worked out of the no-out bases loaded jam by sandwiching a sac fly in between a pair of strikeouts to lock up the victory.

The comeback attempt from the Rams seemed fitting given how the last 10 games in the all-time series have played out as six of those contests have ended with a differential of three runs or less (four 1-run games).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 15-5 on the road this season.
  • Millar and Shpur went a combined 4-for-10 with two runs scored and five RBI from the 1-2 spots in the order.
  • With 10 runs scored in today's game, the Gulls are the first team in the conference to eclipse the 300-run plateau on the season (302 total).

No. 5/9 Endicott (27-5, 11-1 CCC) travels to UMass Dartmouth tomorrow at 3:30 PM. Suffolk (10-17, 4-7 CCC) visits UMass Boston on Thursday at 7 PM.
