Baseball Advances to Final Day of CCC Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott used a four-run fourth inning to take the lead and never looked back in their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) game on Saturday afternoon, defeating Roger Williams 5-1 and bouncing the Hawks from the CCC tournament.

Endicott (30-12) moves on to Sunday's final day of play and will need to win two games to capture the CCC baseball crown. Game location and opponent will be determined at the end of the day on Saturday.

Senior pitcher Brendan Pittsley (Plympton, Mass.) threw a gem for the Gulls, improving to 6-0 on the season with an 8-inning effort in which he gave up just one run and struck out six batters.

Junior center fielder Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) had the biggest hit of the game for the Gulls, tripling in the fourth to score graduate student Colin Sitarz (West Hartford, Conn.) and freshman Mat Paola (Middlebury, Conn.).

Gold would come across the plate on an RBI groundout by Eric Lemke (Southington, Conn.).

The Gulls would tack on another run in the seventh inning, which freshman shortstop Cody Hall (Rutland, Mass.) led off with a single. He was bunted over by catcher Robert Goldstick (Deerfield, Ill.) and crossed the plate on a single by sophomore second baseman Harry Oringer (Dartmouth, Mass.).

Junior pitcher Sean Boyle (Arlington, Mass.) was tagged with the loss for the Hawks (24-18), allowing all five runs over six and two-thirds innings.
