Box Score

(Beverly, MA) The Endicott bats came alive in game one the CCC tourney, cranking out 14 hits in a 12-4 victory over Roger Williams. EC got in front early 5-0. But the Hawks battled back making it 5-4 after 4 1/2 innings. But in the bottom of the fifth the Gulls broke it open with five more.

Dustin Aiguier scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first with some manufacturing on the part of the EC offense. He led off with a single and stole second. He tagged to third on Mike Lucas' fly ball to right center and scored on Greg Allain's ground out to first.

Pat Vincent led off a four-run third with his third home run of the season to make it 2-0. Mike Lucas tripled to right with one out and scored on an Allain sac fly. With two outs Matt Bishop doubled and Peter Norke walked. Kevin Donahue singled in Bishop and Stephen Vidmosko singled in Norke making it 5-0.

Roger Williams battled back for two in the top of the fourth off starter Mike Daggett. Brian Robinson doubled. Bryce Dumond tripled him in and Andrew Lippincott singled in Dumond. RWU drew closer in the top of the fifth. Travis Cooney led off with a high bouncing single off of home plate. Mike Daggett contributed to his own misery by mishandling a potential double play ball from Nick Franzago, deciding to go to first with it and then throwing it away to allow runners at 1st and 3rd with no outs. Kevin Thompson hit a sac fly to score Cooney. Andrew Dillon then hit a liner to short stop that Vidmosko, sensing the double play at first, just took his eye off and dropped the ball. With two out, Dumond singled home Franzago. Daggett then walk John Marano to load the bases. Jon Trowt came in a got a big strike out to end the rally.

In the bottom of the fifth the hope of a big inning loomed as Brendan Tiani singled and Vincent walked. The hope faded as Aiguier struck out and Lucas flied out. However hope was restored as Allain picked up his third and fourth RBI's of the game with a two out single with the runners in motion. Bishop was hit by a pitch and Peter Norke delivered his knock out blow with a deep drive to left for a three run homer, his fourth of the season.

Trowt went on to pitch 2 1/3 innings and Ian Parkinson cleaned up the eighth and ninth striking out four in the process.

The Gulls await the winner of tonight's Salve Regina/Gordon game at 7:00 in Newport, RI. The game time and location of tomorrow's is to be announced.
