Erika Trudon Named AVCA All-New England Honorable Mention

2014 AVCA ALL-REGION RELEASE

LEXINGTON, Ky.- Following a season in which she eclipsed the 1,000 dig plateau as just a sophomore, Endicott libero Erika Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) has been named to the AVCA All-New England Honorable Mention team.  Her All-Region honor comes a week and a half after being named to the All-CCC Honorable Mention team as well. Endicott defeated the University of Southern Maine 3-0 on Wednesday in the ECAC Quarterfinals and will now travel to Western New England on Saturday to face the Golden Bears with the winner advancing to the ECAC DIII New England Championships.

For the 2014 season, Trudon has recorded 451 digs while averaging 4.90 digs/set overall while stepping up her play against regionally ranked opponents in which she averages an ever 5.0 digs/set (185 digs in 37 set plays).  After missing five matches due to injury, Trudon returned for the team's match against Southern Maine and posted 14 digs and a team high six service aces to lead the team to a 3-0 sweep.  The sophomore leads Endicott in digs (451), digs/set (4.90), service aces (47) and aces/set (0.51).  Having only played two seasons, Trudon currently ranks ninth all-time in Endicott career history with 1,011 career digs.

Trudon's award is the fifth AVCA All-New England Honorable Mention honor for an Endicott player under Tim Byram's leadership.  She is also the third libero to earn the award as Brittany Nolan ('09) and Ashley Norley ('12) earned the same distinction in 2008 and 2012, respectively.  Trudon and the Gulls travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on #1 Western New England at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the ECAC DIII New England semifinals with the winner advancing to the Championship at 3:30 p.m.
