Three Gulls Receive Conference Honors Following Five Set Win Over Wellesley

CCC Athletes of the Week Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- On the heels of defeating Wellesley for just the second time in program history, three Endicott women's volleyball players received weekly Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) honors as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.  Tori McIntyre (San Diego, Calif.), Elise Morgan (Holbrook, Mass.) and Erika Trudon (Coventry, Conn.) all received their first weekly honors for their standout play in the five set win over Wellesley on Saturday.

McIntyre, a 2013 All-CCC Honorable Mention recipient, received Co-Player of the Week honors after recording a double-double against the Blue, the seventh of her young career.  Her 16 kills against 2013's fourth ranked team in New England tied her career high and tied for the match high on Saturday.   The sophomore outside's 11 digs were third highest on the team in the victory and marked the 14th time she has surpassed double digits in digs in a match.

Trudon, who last season earned All-CCC Second Team honors as a libero, matched her career-high with 31 digs in the Gulls' thrilling five-set victory over Wellesley to open the 2014 campaign.  Trudon averaged 6.2 digs per set and helped limit a potent Wellesley offense to a .153 attach percentage.  The libero also chipped in with two assists and an ace in the win.

Morgan, who was making her debut for the Blue and Green, led the Gulls with a .355 hitting percentage and tied for second on the team with 12 kills.  Her 12 kills came with just one attack error on 31 attempts while she also picked up three total blocks, including one solo.

The Gulls return to action on Friday as they play host to Babson and Plymouth State as part of the 2014 Endicott Invitational.  The team will also take on UMass Boston and Bowdoin on Saturday to wrap up the tournament.
