Beverly, MA--The Endicott women's volleyball team was recently recognized as one of the top Division III teams in New England. In the second poll released by the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA), EC is ranked 13th in the region.
This marks the first time Endicott has ever achieved a regional ranking. The women entered the poll at \#13 after starting the season 6-0 in regional competition. "This is a significant step for our program," Head Coach Tim Byram said. The Gulls currently hold an overall record of 7-4 and a 2-0 record in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC). The team is on a six game winning streak, recently defeating Plymouth State, who was ranked 7th in the regional poll.
Seniors Kristen Altieri, Katie Lorinovich, Morgan Tranquist, Susan Teta and graduate student, Krystan Sylva, lead the Gulls. "The ranking is something that our seniors have been working towards for four years now," Coach Byram comments. "It is nice to see them rewarded for all of the hard work they have put into building the program."
The Gulls return to action tonight as they travel to Standish, ME to compete with Saint Joseph's College at 7:00 PM. Then the team returns home to host a CCC Tri-match this Saturday with Anna Maria and Roger Williams at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM respectively.
