Women's Soccer Blanks Wheaton (Mass.), 2-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's soccer team defeated the Wheaton Lyons by a score of 2-0 under the lights of Hempstead Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Gulls got the scoring started off early on in the contest, as Grace Jewett (Millis, Mass.) netted her second of the season off of a deep through ball assist from Kelly Talerico (Portland, Conn.)

Some insurance was added in the 60th minute thanks to a one-timer blast from nearly 40 yards out by Gillian Magnier (Shelburne, Vt.), her first of the season.

The win was highlighted by outstanding defensive play once again as the Blue and Green stymied the Lyons' offense, allowing just three shots (zero on net) in the match.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott currently leads the CCC in shots (189), save percentage (.864), and corner kicks (58).
  • Magnier's goal was the first of her career.
  • Over the past four games, Jewett has notched six points for the Gulls (two goals, two assists).
  • Talerico's assist is her first of the season and the third of her career.
  • Rosalina Caliri (East Greenwich, R.I.) and the Endicott defense recorded their seventh shutout of the season – each win has been a shutout.
