Beverly, MA--The Endicott women's soccer team capitalized 8 times in their victory against CCC member New England College. Junior Leah Walters and sophomore Jillian Zagura each had two goals in the win.
Walters began the EC scoring in the 17th minute of play, and a little over a minute later, she scored her second goal of the night. Both goals were perfectly placed in the upper corners. Senior co-captain Dana Schutz sprinted past her player, in the box to finish a cross made by Caitlin D'Amario. At halftime, the score was 3-1, with EC having the advantage.
Continuing EC's scoring, Stacey Lubas found the back of the net with a couple of minutes into the second half. Scoring her first of two goals in the 56th minute was Zagura. In almost an identical play, Zagura scored off of another cross by Schutz, to give EC the 6-1 lead.
Ten minutes later, freshman forward Caitlin D'Amario would pick up a loose ball in the box and find the back of the net. Scoring her first goal of the season, and capping the score at 8 was sophomore Beth Walker.
Today's match marked Senior Day for three players: midfielder Kate Healey, defender Jessica Scholz and midfielder Dana Schutz. The leadership they display on and off the field as captains, has contributed immensely to the success of the team.
The Gulls are currently 10-0 in CCC play, and 12-2-1 overall. Their next match is home against CCC rival, Wentworth on Tuesday October 21st at 7pm.
