Gulls Soar Past Leopards, 19-5

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team hosted Wentworth this evening in its last home game of the regular season and came away with a 19-5 victory to improve to a perfect 7-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.

The Gulls scored an unanswered nine goals in the first half to take a dominant 9-0 lead heading into halftime. 

Wentworth responded in the opening two minutes of the second half with two tallies from Brooke Paradis (Pelham, N.H.) to cut the lead to 9-2. 

The Leopards would see three more goals in the second frame but Endicott found the back of the net 10 times to secure the 19-5 victory. 

Meghan Dutchyshyn (Cheshire, Conn.) led the offensive effort for the Gulls with four goals, while Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.), Jackie Healy (Northborough, Mass.), and Alex Fitzgerald (Guilford, Conn.) were all close behind with three tallies each. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) got the start in net and made three saves. Alexandra Rose (East Lyme, Conn.) came in to close out the second half and recorded four saves. 
  • The Gulls outshot the Leopards, 38-14. 
  • Also scoring for the Gulls during the game were Maggie Berger (Old Lyme, Conn.), Abigail Berger (Old Lyme, Conn.), Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.), Nicole Anselmo (Natick, Mass.), Mollie Manning (Hull, Mass.), and Erin McCarthy (Old Lyme, Conn.)
  • Prisco led the team in ground balls (6) and caused turnovers (6). She also won four draw controls.

FOR THE FOES

  • Lilly Kuhns (Gloucester, Mass.) shifted to 2-7 in net and recorded 14 saves. Liz Gunning (Northport, N.Y.) finished out the game and made one stop. 
  • Paradis finished the game with three goals, while Leah Cummins (Plymouth, Mass.) had two.
  • Three of Wentworth's goals came on free position attempts.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (11-3, 7-0 CCC) finishes the regular season at Nicols on Tuesday, April 24 at 4:00 PM as they look to remain unbeaten in conference play. Wentworth (5-8, 1-5 CCC) hosts Curry on Saturday, April 21 for a 12:00 PM start.
