Gulls grab No. 5 seed in upcoming NECVA Tournament

Gulls grab No. 5 seed in upcoming NECVA Tournament
JERSEY CITY, N.J. - After three months of perhaps the most competitive all-around play in the history of the conference, the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association has announced the field of 16 which will compete for the 2010 NECVA Championship from Friday, April 9 through Sunday, April 11 at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center in Barnstable, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Endicott College (26-7) has earned the No. 5 seed and will face No. 12 seeded Emmanuel College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday April 9th.

After winning back-to-back New England Division crowns, Endicott was named the \#5 seed for the second year in a row. The Gulls make their seventh NECVA Tournament appearance and fourth in a row. The Gulls will face off with Emmanuel College (26-10) as the 12th-seeded Saints were the GNAC Division runners-up and make their fourth tournament appearance overall, qualifying in consecutive years.

The \#10-ranked Gulls currently sit at 26-7 this season and have had winning streaks of six and 12 games during the year. Endicott has won its last three matches all by matching scores of 3-0 over Wentworth, Newbury and Elms to help secure its second-straight NECVA New England Championship. The Gulls and Saints have met twice this season with Emmanuel handing Endicott a loss in the first match of the year, 3-2. The Gulls avenged the early season defeat with a 3-1 win over the Saints as a part of the Endicott Invitational held in February.

Endicott went 1-1 in the tournament a season ago as the Gulls defeated SUNY New Paltz, 3-0, in round one but fell to No. 6 seeded Stevens Institute of Technology, 3-1.
