BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College posted 11 total blocks in a three game sweep of the Wentworth Institute of Technology in a NECVA New England Divisional matchup on Saturday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls used set scores of 30-23, 30-16 and 30-15 to improve their record to 24-7 overall and 13-1 in league play, while the Leopards slip to 15-9 and 10-5 against conference opponents.

Endicott wasn’t particularly sharp in the game’s opening set, committing eight errors in the 30-23 win. \#A.J. Witkofsky\# (Scotia, N.Y.) posted six kills in the first game, while classmate \#John Emery\# (Westford, Mass.) notched five. \#David Olson\# (Chelmsford, Mass.) also helped the Gulls take the early lead as he dropped in two aces for the Blue and Green.

After racing out to a 12-8 lead in game two, Endicott put on a block party as the Gulls posted five blocks over the game’s next nine points to extend their lead to 20-9. \#James Sliva\# (Monroe, Conn.) had five kills while \#Jordan Durant\# (Honolulu, Hawaii) nailed four in the game two victory.

Endicott hit at a .346 clip in the third game, this compared to Wentworth’s -.182 in the final set. The Gulls had 14 digs and five additional blocks in game three, upping the afternoon’s totals to 37 digs and 11 blocks.

Endicott got a game-high 11 kills from \#A.J. Witkofsky\#. \#John Emery\# also finished in double-digits, posting 10 kills while Durant and Sliva each finished with seven apiece. \#Ben Foster\# (Penfield, N.Y.) notched 42 assists while \#David Lowe\# (Burnt Hill, N.Y.) had a match-high 10 digs. Witkofsky also finished with seven total blocks and five digs.

Wentworth’s Tom Ceurvels (Weymouth, Mass.) had seven kills while classmate Lowell Jesmer (Rochester, N.Y.) finished with six. Tyler Moriarty (Wilbraham, Mass.) dished out 19 assists and a team-best seven digs in the losing effort.

Endicott, which closes out the season with four-straight at home, will host Newbury College on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The Gulls look to clinch their second-straight divisional championship with a win over the Nighthawks. Wentworth, which saw a three-game winning streak come to an end, looks to bounce back on the same evening against Johnson & Wales University.
