Providence, RI- The men's team wrapped up its season yesterday with a 1-8 loss to Rhode Island College. The one win for the Gulls was posted by 1st-year player Mike Manfredi who won 6-1, 6-0 at 2nd singles.
"Mike played well," said Coach Herlihy. "He moves well on the court, is consistent, and is very effective up at net. He could have a great career here."
The Gulls came close to winning at 5th singles as Pablo Baez lost a long and hard fought 3-6, 6-7 (5-7 in the tie-breaker) match.
Ben Bettez and Richard Len lost 5-8 at second doubles in another close match. In other matches, Kieran Parisi lost 3-6, 0-6 at 1st singles, Len lost 0-6, 0-6 at 3rd singles, and Bettez lost 1-6, 0-6 at 4th singles. Manfredi and Parisi teamed up at 1st doubles, but lost 3-8.
