SENIOR SEND-OFF: Endicott Men's Rugby Program

(The goal of our Senior Send-Off articles is to highlight teams and student-athletes who did not get to finish their season of competition and/or have their respective Senior Day games/events happen. We also hope that these stories serve as a positive light to anyone who reads them during these trying times.)

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's rugby program posted an 8-4 record before club sports were canceled due to COVID-19.

The Gulls were led by three seniors — Garrett Campion (Portsmouth, R.I.), Bryan Palmatier (Needham, Mass.), Jae Reilly (Waltham, Mass.) — who will forever have an impact on the program athletically and academically. Here's what head coach Dave Kenkel and assistant coach Charles Nastasi '13 M'14 had to say about the entire senior class as a group and as individuals.

2020 Senior Class

"All three student-athletes brought the passion that we needed in order to become a nationally successful program. We will miss everything they brought to the table from their rugby skills to the leadership they have shown over their time with Endicott Rugby. We all have no doubts that these young men will be incredibly successful in men's club rugby after Endicott if they decide to pursue rugby in the future.  Well done lads! We will miss you, please come back to visit."

"PS when playing rugby in the future make sure to TACKLE LOW!" - Desmond Crowley

Garrett Campion

Dave Kenkel: "Garrett, also a two-year starter, utilized his toughness and speed to secure starting roles in several backline positions since joining the team, bringing the standard of play up within the program."

Charles Nastasi: "Since coming back to my Endicott assistant coaching role, working with Garrett week in and week out has been a treat. His skill and ability, along with a burning competitiveness always brought out the best in the rest of the team, and for that I am grateful."

Bryan Palmatier

Dave Kenkel: "Bryan was a three-year starter and two-year captain. His hard work and commitment to the program made him one of the better players to come through Endicott since my tenure as coach."

Charles Nastasi: "To lean on what Coach K has said, Bryan is the definition of leadership. Bryan would come to every practice commuting from Needham most nights, help the younger players get better in all drills and even help with practice cleanup at the end of the night. As a coach, you could not ask more from a player. Skill-wise, Bryan was on another level, an example of this was his tournament-leading eight tries in the Brown 7's tournament, where the squad went 5-0."

Jae Reilly

Dave Kenkel: "Jae was a two-year starter who had great versatility and played in the great success of the program."

Charles Nastasi: "Since coming back to my Endicott assistant coaching role, I could see how Jae's gameplay and senior leadership has helped mold this relatively young team."
