Crew To Host Erg Challenge Vs. UMass Lowell & Merrimack On Saturday (2/12, 3 PM)

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott crew program will compete against UMass Lowell and Merrimack in an erg challenge on Saturday, February 12 at the Post Sport Science & Fitness Center (second floor) at 3 PM.

This will be Endicott's first competition since March 25, 2021, when the Gulls took on crosstown rival Gordon College in an erg-race at Chebacco Lake.

"Through the years, we continue to find new ways to grow our team, whether it's fundraising or recruitment and understand the importance of outreach. By starting new traditions and events that will carry on into the future, we create a way to put our team out there," said senior Katie Alzapiedi (New Milford, Conn.). "With the upcoming erg challenge with UMass Lowell & Merrimack, it will be our first outside competition of the year, so it will be exciting to get back into a normal schedule off the water."

Coach Surabian echoed Alzapiedi's excitement for Saturday's competition.

"This will be our first real competition in some time so the team is very excited," said Surabian. "'The Crew' as I like to call them, are dedicated, unselfish, and humble student-athletes who work incredibly hard. In the face of adversity, they have shown grit and picked up the bow ball and ran with it."

Fans are encouraged to stop by the Post Center on Saturday and cheer on the Gulls who will use this event to prepare for their season opener on the water at the River Hawk Challenge (Lowell, Mass.) on Saturday, April 23.
